HCG and Weight Loss

HCG And Weight Loss - How It Works

The chemical hormone hCG works on the diencephalon region of the brain. (It's actually a complex amino-peptide and not a hormone, but almost everyone has mislabeled it as a hormone).

The diencephalon (which includes the hypothalamus) is the part of the brain that controls all the automatic animal functions of the body, including breathing, heart beat, digestion, sleep, the urinary system, and (as discovered by Dr. Simeons over 50 years ago) the storage of body fat.

hCG is produced by the placenta in pregnant women (as much as 1 million IUs per day) which allows the pregnant woman's body to access the abnormal fat stores in the body to nourish the fetus, and without which, the woman might not be able to carry the baby to term.

HCG, extracted from the urine of pregnant women, acts on the diencephalon, allowing the body to burn these reserves of stored "abnormal" fat, which are otherwise locked away and nearly impossible to lose thru exercise and normal dieting.

The dosage for hCG used for weight loss is generally 125-200 IUs, much less than the amount that pregnant women produce or the amount used to stimulate fertility.

On a very specific very low calorie diet, the body (thanks to the hCG) can generally burn 1 pound of fat per day (3,500 calories). That, in addition to the 500 calories from food, insures that the person undergoing the hCG treatment is not "starving", and, generally speaking, doesn't even suffer from hunger.

With the hCG diet, the weight that is lost is almost exclusively fat, whereas with other very low calorie diets which don't include the use of hCG, the body goes into starvation mode and sheds valuable muscle tissue in order to reduce its caloric requirement.

This loss of muscle tissue (caused by severe dieting without hCG) decreases the body's caloric requirements so that when the person returns to eating normally, he is consuming an even greater excess of calories which are then stored as fat. This is the "yo-yo diet" syndrome and why it doesn't work.

It's important that the patient undergoing the hCG treatment (even if they only want to lose 15 or fewer pounds) remain on the treatment for the full 26 days (23 days of injections) because the diencephalon needs about 3 weeks off from the previous fat banking it was subjected to in order to "reset" the metabolism.
